Firearm permits in Wexford County are available to Michigan Residents ONLY.
Please DO NOT bring the firearm into the office for an inspection.
You must present yourself in the office with a valid Michigan ID to complete the license to purchase the application. The Wexford County Sheriff’s Office does not complete same day issuance of the permit.
The Purchase Permit is valid for 30 days, so the transaction must take place within that time frame. After the transaction, the seller must return one completed copy to the Sheriff's Office.
Wexford County residents who hold a valid CPL are not required to obtain a Purchase Permit; however, they are to use a Pistol Sales Record 3-part card (form RI-60). These forms are available at www.michigan.gov/msp and we have also provided a direct link to the form below:
